So here's another animatic, now with 90% of the animation done. The music and the Foley are only try outs nothing official, im only timing the animation out. The mood is slowly building up and there is a great sense of the story now.
I'm currently painting each frame and further animation needs to be done and tweak some of the current ones.

  1. Hi Ed,

Great work so far. I agree about the extra shots to help establish.

    I have some "take-it-or-leave-it" suggestions/observations
    - 0.21 will we see the flute on the ground?
    - 0.26 the transition from her perplexed look to joyful is a bit abrupt. What makes her joyful, does she hear something, see something or think of something?
-0.45 We could hold a bit longer on her reaction to his rejection, then perhaps show her thinking (eyes up to the left) before she reaches again for her pocket.
    - 0.48 Do you think that his reaction here is congruent? I would be immediately furious with her, but he only looks furious after snatching the flute and we don't linger on the extent of his emotion.
    - 1:19 We need to hold for longer on his eyes. Perhaps you could make a reflection in his eyes of the flute on the table instead of the quick cut.
    - 1:27 Could you leave the cut at this high angle for longer? and have him walk back into the bush without changing camera. (I know the animation is harder but it may look better)
    - 1:32 I don't think he needs to come out twice, but if he does the high angle shot would be better.
    - 1:42 Perhaps too many cuts. Either the low angle or the high angle but not both.
    - 1:44 You could stay a little longer on the girl before she fades away - with his music continuing offscreen.
    - 2:30 I'm not sure if she would suddenly break into such an open smile. Maybe a more subtle smile? or a look of awe?

I am extremely impressed by your progress and I can feel that this is going to be a wonderful film. Well done Ed!
